Charles James couturier at the Hotel Chelsea, 1975, one of a series of 70's Art Scene photos by Greg Kitchen Photography Great man, great inspiration. We remember originally, having Mercura across the hall of Master of Art and Design, Charles James and his hound Sputnik, his amazing surreal furniture sculptures, maquettes in wax of tears, and the most beautiful gowns in the world. He kept a Cecil Beaton photo of his youth, so a youthful icon in portraiture and, only known again posthumously.
